The Brand
We chose a fun modern retro style that depicts cows being kidnapped by UFOs, going along with their mission to “kidnap” abused farm animals to re-home them and to promote non-dairy products made simply and happily. A business and family dedicated to serving people and their best farm friends to better quality. That quality is subtly featured throughout their visuals with slim outlines that create a feel of luxury around their logos and with a strong and warm color palette. Deep red and black for a premium and bold statement softened by a cloudy blue to bring in a sunny morning and a retro orange for that 70’s pump up feel.
The Business
Based on the tales of cows being kidnapped in the south durning the 70’s. This company was not only started in the south but also its original company started in 1976 before shutting down, but the owners’ kids revived Whisked Away renewed and refreshing!
They have dedicated themselves and their new start to the welfare of farm animals, improving their quality of life by teaming up with rescues and ethical farms.
Whisked away is a simple and effective show of how your morals and ethics can pair well with your business dreams. Promoting their non dairy products with the action of helping stop abuse of farm animals in factories, Whisked away is a prime example of going beyond profits. They also take great care of their employees with a bright, friendly, community based environment!
The Packaging
Whisked Away takes the leftover fibers from their oats, coconuts, and almonds already used and turn them into a bagasse-style carton that’s strong, renewable, and compostable. When it comes the design it was vital to point out the key selling points with bold design. Seeing a cow being abducted on a carton is blatantly eye catching with an old retro style that is different from what is typical of milk and dairy brands.
With the saying “We steal your cows!” on the side and a sentence underneath asking for a chance to clarify, it easily guides anyone interested into reading the larger explanation paragraph and most would typically skip.
Inside, they use a fully recyclable plant-based film instead of plastic, so every carton can either break down cleanly or head right back into the recycling stream! It’s a simple yet all round way to use up as much of their own waste they can when it comes to packaging design.
Yogurts and other forms of packaging, aside from the milk cartons, are also made from the same materials too :)
